Terms of use

The conditions under which WinMacro is made available. Plain terms, no surprises.

Last updated: 14 April 2026

1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing or using WinMacro (“the software”), or by using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use the software.

2. Permitted use

WinMacro is provided free of charge for personal, educational and commercial use. You may:

  • install and run the software on any number of computers you control;
  • use macros you create for any lawful purpose, including commercial work;
  • distribute the software unmodified, provided it is supplied free of charge and complete with these terms.

3. Restrictions

You may not:

  • sell, licence or rent the software, or charge any fee for supplying it;
  • modify, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the software, except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded;
  • remove or alter any copyright notice, version information or branding;
  • redistribute the software bundled with adware, installers that offer additional software, or any download manager;
  • present the software as your own work or under a different name.

4. Acceptable use

You are responsible for what your macros do. You must not use WinMacro to gain unauthorised access to any system, to circumvent access controls or licensing restrictions, to breach the terms of another service, to send unsolicited messages, or to do anything unlawful in your jurisdiction. Many online games and services prohibit automated input; checking their rules before you automate anything is your responsibility, not ours.

5. No warranty

The software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will be compatible with any particular application or version of Windows.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of data, loss of profit, business interruption, or any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising out of the use of, or inability to use, the software — including damage caused by a macro performing actions you did not intend. Because playback reproduces input without understanding it, you should test any macro on non-critical data first.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Availability

We may change, suspend or discontinue the software or this website at any time, and may withdraw or replace any particular version. We are under no obligation to provide support, updates or backwards compatibility, though we generally do.

8. Intellectual property

The software, the WinMacro name, the logo and the contents of this website remain our property. Macros you record are yours; we claim no rights over them or over anything you produce with the software.

9. Termination

These terms apply for as long as you use the software. If you breach them, your permission to use the software ends immediately and you must delete all copies.

10. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. The revised version applies from the date shown at the top of this page, and continuing to use the software after that date constitutes acceptance.

11. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to legal@winmacro.net.

This page describes the terms in general commercial language and is not legal advice. Have a qualified adviser review it before relying on it in a jurisdiction with specific requirements.
